Resources for Community Arts
It's too late now. So much of the money from the Arts and Millennium National Lottery has been cynically hijacked from all the regions of the UK to be spent on the pet London projects of the metro-establishment, such as Covent Garden and the Dome. By ensuring that its sister-establishment, the BBC, gives these projects coverage, the rest of us are excluded as participants. Instead we get to watch it all on TV, passively amazed at their stunning antics. Perhaps we are not worthy, and should be grateful to Chris Smith for giving us all the opportunity to watch opera by means of an inappropriate medium.

Lottery Issue
Love the mag and web-site - a lifeline for us in voluntary arts sector! Am also studying cultural policy and management.
I have been searching the net for views on the impact of the National Arts Lottery, can find plenty of info about the Lottery schemes and funded orgs., but not much criticism or debate, any ideas for sites dealing with lottery issue ? Thanks

It's the same the whole world over..
We like MAiLOUT and the new e-zine, too. We're in South East London, but please don't think that just because we've got a London postcode that we fare any better than Graham in Somerset. We need to make sure that the voice of community arts is heard at the top table. How can we do that?
We'd love to know
Best wishes from T & J and the team, Streatham
..not in Barcelona, it isn't
Why can't we copy the Barcelona model of skimming 10% from the top earning businesses
and making it available for community arts???

Oo-er, Ma'am!
How about a 10% off the Queen's income???

..chicken & egg
if they don't know what it is they won't pay for it
if they know what it is but can't afford it they won't go
see this chicken and the egg community opera lark?
how's that going to work?
little bit of music - little bit of dancing - little bit of drama
Well fuck my old boots,
sounds a bit like opera without the
fancy trousers.
