Charities working in Rwanda

www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk

This is the UK charity homepage of SOS Children, the world's largest orphan and abandoned children charity. Supported by sponsors and donors worldwide, our children's charity provides a new family (in amazing Children's Villages) for over 60,000 children in 123 countries and helps almost a million more people through our projects around the world.

Our main role is helping children whose parents are not there for them: Aids orphans, street children, child soldiers and children orphaned by war, poverty or natural disasters. In places where there is a high rate of child abandonment, we also run programmes to help strengthen vulnerable families and keep them together.

www.ryico.org

Rwandan Youth Information Community Organisation (rYico) is a charitable organisation founded in 2003 in response to the needs of young people in Rwanda .

rYico works to support and empower vulnerable young people in Rwanda through Centre Marembo , a youth resource centre based in Kigali . The young people that attend the centre include those whom have been orphaned, neglected or left in very difficult conditions, particularly as a result of the 1994 genocide. rYico also aims to increase social and cultural understanding about Rwanda within the UK through cultural exchange and education.

www.orphansofrwanda.org

ORI is dedicated to helping orphans and other socially vulnerable young people in Rwanda pursue a university education and ultimately become leaders in driving economic development and social reconciliation.

www.worldvision.org.uk

World Vision is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the world's poorest people. By becoming a child sponsor, you'll be joining us in our pledge to provide the food, clean water, education and healthcare they deserve.

It costs just £18 a month to sponsor a child. That's just 60p a day – around the price of a daily newspaper. Your small change can make a big difference.

By forging a connection with an individual child, you can see the effect your donation is having on the life of the child for yourself.

At the same time, our focus is in on the community and its long-term development. Working closely with a community, we help them build the skills and knowledge they need to stand on their own two feet. That means your money is a hand-up, not a hand out.

www.actionaid.org.uk

ActionAid is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty, in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity. We work with poor and marginalised people to help eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequity that cause it.
