SCOTLAND
pARTners: Scotland’s Artist Residency
Programme is a new fund to support artist residencies of three
months to two years based in, and working in collaboration with,
a local community. Priority will be given to proposals which are
in social inclusion areas or which involve people who have few
or no opportunities to participate in the arts. As part of the
residency the artist will also have time to develop their own

NORTHERN IRELAND
Share Arts from Lisnaskea, Co.
Fermanagh are bringing back the Clowns by popular demand. Over
the week they will run workshops in juggling and tumbling to our
local PAPA group. Streetwise Community Circus will be running
the show between the 8th and 12th August. Expect lots of noise,
30 children, 2 clowns and some funny clothes!
NORTH WEST
The long awaited new lottery-funded building for Burnley Youth
Theatre has just opened. BYT works with an average of 450 young
people a week age 5–25 years. The year round programme encompasses
all art forms through a range of training workshops, projects

Welsh Arts E-Postcards are a fantastic

WEST MIDLANDS
Grants for the Arts road shows are touring the West Midlands.
If you are an artist or an arts organisation, or if you use the
arts as part of your work, funding could be available for you.
The road show will be at The Artix in Bromsgrove on October 13th
and Craven Arms Community Centre on October 26th. To reserve your

SOUTH WEST
2006 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom
Brunel. His achievements changed the world. Throughout 2006, Brunel
200 will provide the focus for the celebration of the life, times
and legacy of Brunel through education and arts projects, exhibitions,
media programmes, publications, competitions, debates, talks,
walks and trails. Most events will be based in Bristol and the

Nominations for North East Woman Entrepreneur
of the Year Awards are open. The awards recognise women
who have shown creativity, determination, dedication, courage,
entrepreneurial skills and talent. Arts Council England, North

Loca’s business support programme
is open to anyone in North Kirklees who is self-employed or running
their own business in the creative sector, whether well established
or just starting out. The programme includes; one-to-one advice
sessions; networking events and a series of workshops. The workshops
cover; promotion and presentation; money management and marketing.

EAST MIDLANDS
The prestigious British Art Show (BAS),
which is held every five years will be in Nottingham next April
May & June. A unique aspect of the BAA in Nottingham will be fringe
events under the name Sideshow. Regional artists will exhibit
in spaces which will include use of shops, factories, warehouses

EAST
CAN.05, (Contemporary Arts Norwich)
is a new, international event bringing a range of specially commissioned
arts events under one umbrella in Norwich this Summer Norwich
has been transformed into one huge art gallery with more than
100 installations across a wide range of locations across the

LONDON
London throughout 2005 is reverberating, with sights, sounds,
colours, stories, art, images, textures, fashion, sculpture, photography,
film, debate and discourse of Africa. Africa
05 is not just a series of exhibitions and events; it is
a watershed moment in the development and promotion of African

SOUTH EAST
The De La Warr Pavilion opens
on September 17th as a national centre for contemporary art.
This year, this world-famous Grade One listed icon of the Modernist
movement celebrates its 70th anniversary following an 18 month,
£8 million refurbishment and redevelopment. The epic choral piece,
“Sea Tongue”, featuring 300 local singers led by The Shout and
commissioned by the DLWP will signal the re-opening.
